Portal of the Lotus Flame
Origin Story
In the sacred land of Anahola, Kauaʻi, where Mount Kaleleʻa rises as the ancient birthing place of souls entering this world, a vision was received during ceremony with the Huni Kuin tribe, sitting with the Father of the Forest.
During an ayahuasca journey, I was given simple counsel: "When you feel lost or the weight becomes too heavy, anchor yourself to the altar." As I gazed upon it, the statue before me began to transform. I saw myself as a Hawaiian woman in the sacred moment of birth—reaching down to lift my newborn son for the first time, our hands meeting in that eternal threshold between worlds. Then, in my arms, he shifted form, becoming a radiant lotus crowned with flame.
That vision planted itself in my heart like a seed.
Shortly after, I returned to the same land to live-paint during a Ruby Chase concert—her music weaving stories of heaven meeting earth, devotion and remembrance vibrating through the air. I knew then what wanted to be born through my hands: this painting, this story, this remembering.
The Sacred Geometry of the Piece
The Crone in the Sky: A grandmother ancestor floats in the celestial realm, her ancient knowing descending through starlight. She is the keeper of all that has come before.
Kaleleʻa, the Mountain Mother: The sacred mountain herself—Kaleleʻa, the birthing place of souls in Hawaiian cosmology—receives the crone's wisdom and channels it downward through her body. She is the living womb of the land.
The Rivers of Transmission: Waterfalls cascade through the landscape, carrying ancestral knowledge from peak to valley, from sky to earth, from grandmother to maiden. These waters are umbilical cords between worlds—channels through which memory, intelligence, and lineage flow.
The Maiden at the Portal: A green-skinned woman stands at the threshold, where light pierces darkness. She is the Earth Maiden, the fertile receiver of all that has flowed before her. Lava rock forms her hair, waterfalls threading through it like the waters of creation moving through stone and time.
The Blue Butterfly: Perched at her ear, this transformer opens a portal to lunar wisdom, allowing her to hear the moon's whispers and receive the messages of her lineage. Through this opening, ancestral voices pour in.
The Lotus of Conscious Conception: Cradled reverently in her hands, the lotus blooms with a flame at its center—the eternal spark of creation, soul-fire alive with intelligence. This is conscious conception: the meeting of spirit and matter, intention and embodiment, the celestial and the earthly.
The Dolphin Guardian: Swimming through the scene with angel wings on her eyes, the dolphin carries the medicine of joy, play, and laughter. She blesses this moment of creation, reminding us that even in the deepest mysteries, lightness and delight are sacred companions.
The Three Sacred Archetypes
This painting holds the trinity of the feminine divine: Crone, Mother, and Maiden—embodied here as Grandmother Sky, Mountain Mother, and Earth Maiden. Knowledge flows downward through water, through time, through blood and bone and memory. Each generation receives what came before, transforms it, and prepares to pass it forward once more.
This is a painting about conscious conception—not only of children, but of visions, art, and new ways of being. It speaks to the moment when we stand at a portal, holding the flame of creation, listening to our ancestors, blessed by joy, and choosing with reverence what we bring into form.
Portal of the Lotus Flame is Kauaʻi herself, eternally giving birth to the lotus of consciousness—in every soul that enters this realm, in every vision that wants to become real, in every moment we remember we are made of starlight and stone and sacred water.
